In the Irish myth cycles, the land of Tír na nÓg is the realm of the Otherworld, the place where the Fairies lived and heroes visited on quests. It was a place just outside the realm of man, off to the west, where there was no illness or death or time, but only happiness and beauty. The golden path to Tír na nÓg is open once more, and the greatest Celtic Storytellers have gathered for a once-in-a-lifetime journey. When they return, they’ll bring with them tales of the creatures they met and the adventures they lived. Over time those stories will become a saga — and the most epic saga will live on forever.

Tír na nÓg: Blessings & Burdens is a modular expansion to the base game of Tír na nÓg. Each of the five modules may be used independently, or in combination with any or all of the other modules. The rules for each module will describe changes to the setup, new rules of play, and new scoring rules. You’ll also find solo rules for the solo-compatible modules.

Module 1 - New Geas Cards 

This module adds six new Geas cards to the game, two for each row of your Saga. You may use only expansion Geas cards in your game, or mix and match Geas cards from the base game and the expansion, as long as every player uses the same Geas cards. If you’d like to play with asymmetric Geas cards, where each player has a different set in play, consult Module 5 - Followers of The Morrigan later in these rules.

Module 2 - Blessed Realms 

In this module, the cards you discard each turn will impact the number of points each region is worth in endgame region scoring. Will you discard cards of one color to increase the value of the region? Or save them to add to your Saga and increase the size of your region?

Module 3 - The Lore of Places

Become a Mormaer, a regional ruler, and gain special once-per-round powers when you have the largest region of a color in your Saga.

Module 4 - Triquetra

When you honor the unity of all things, you will be rewarded with up to three blessings. Be the first to finish a Triquetra goal and receive a blessing. Every player who achieves the same goal in the same round will be blessed. The blessings give you the power to change the rank of a card, to swap a card in your Saga with a card from your hand, or to lay a Bridge, a new component that can connect cards diagonally, or span across a card entirely.

Module 5 - Followers of The Morrigan

Draft and play with a unique set of Geas cards. We knew you were going to try it anyway, so here are some rules to make it work. This module is for 2+ players only.

You're backpacking trip through the lush greenery of the Irish countryside is interrupted by a strange visitor. This giant man, calling himself The Dagda, presents you with a series of challenges to overcome. Only the clever and pure of heart will solve them all and gain entry to Tír na nÓg!

Journey to Tír na nÓg is a game in the 18Escape series of cooperative puzzle games from Grand Gamers Guild. In each game, you solve a full-length, escape-room-style mystery using just 18 playing cards! Puzzles may test your perception, wordplay, and lateral thinking. English language fluency is required.

This game uses a website to check your answers and provide hints and information. When you have solved a puzzle on the cards, you will enter the answer into the website (compatible with all smart phones and computers) and you will be instructed on what to do next. The website also contains a graduated hint system, so if you get stuck you can get just a small hint about the current puzzle to get moving again without giving too much away.

This system is non-destructible: some groups may choose to write on cards, but this is not required. A group cannot re-play the game, but can pass it on to another group for their use.
